The riverbanks, veld and Poplar forest are home to many bird species. We offer fishing along the river, which is home to many fish types such as Barbel, Carp and Yellow fish among others. We offer accommodation which overlooks dense poplar forest and the mountains, with the Caledon flowing only meters away. The old mill was build in c1865, and still houses the original maize and wheat Swedish-milling equipment still in working condition. A tour of the mill, old fort, and stables is a great way to enjoy the full splendor of Don Don at your own pace. The Mill was build in c1865 and houses the original milling equipment which is still in working condition. The old mill and the miller’s hut have been created into accommodation, which is on the banks of the Caledon River which is the border between South Africa and the Mountain Kingdom of Lesotho. Beautiful sunsets, the sound of the river and the view of the mountains are breathtaking. A dense Poplar forest runs along the river at Don Don, offering various species of birdlife. The unspoiled banks of the river make it an ideal get-away for the freshwater fishing enthusiast - barbell, carp and yellow-fish are of the fish which may be challenged. On the farm, one can surely take a moment to visit buildings such as the old fort and stables. Bushmen painting are also to be seen as one strolls through the forest and along the river bank.
